What
is the Wave-B'x all about?
The Wave B'x is a rugged mobile high resolution multi-track-recorder
in a shock mounted frame, BUILT TO MILITARY SPECS. The Wave B'x
utilizes the highest quality multi-level, Delta-Sigma A/D and D/A converters
suitable for audiophile concert productions. Motion Picture Location
Sound and post mixing specs are exceeded by a great margin.
How does it fit into Motion Picture Location Sound recording?
Multi-track recording
requests for TV and movies have been on the rise. As a result many companies
have developed portable multi-track recorders you can hang around your
neck. Because of their size and portability requirements they are lacking
the ergonomic facilities. Setups are cumbersome and all are lacking automatic
sound-reporting. Most machines have lower audio-specs in multi-track mode.
Time to do a proper multi-track sound report while you are on the set
thinking about mic -placements is hard to find.
And will the post -folks understand your notes?
The Wave B'x,
because of its easy setup, superior audio-specs and automatic sound-reporting
fills this void.
Common
use and economics?
The Wave B'x
is purely designed for multi-tracking and should be used on the movie
set in a dual machine setup. In order to keep the price affordable and
to protect your investments in high quality mic-preamps and analog sound mixers,
we provide you with analog line levels on the input stage.
How do I set up the Wave-B'x?
Every mic on your
analog mixing board is routed pre-fader out to a separate track in addition
to your regular mix also on separate tracks.
Will
it effect the way I work?
No. You set your mics-pre
fader level to the proper value like you normally do and forget about
it . At 24 or 32 bit float resolution the Wave-box has a higher headroom
then most mixing boards. Since you are going prefader out you keep mixing
with your faders like you normally do. As a added benefit you can see
your pre-fader levels on the screen, basically acting as a input meter bridge
for your analog-mixer.
What
do I deliver to Post?
For dailies you can
hand in a Cd, Dvd-Ram, Nagra V-harddisk or Usb-stick. For sound editing
and post conforming you can hand in once a week a removable 120-200 GB
Ide hard drive with the multi-track takes and sound-reports as files.
